The Warmth Of A Glass Of Milk
Have you heard of ‘pay back’? I don’t mean someone borrowed money from you and sometime later you call him/her to pay you back your money. What I mean is the kind of ‘pay back’ you receive after you helped someone. But I DON’T mean that you help others because you want others to ‘pay you back’. That will certainly give you a minus 99.99% of your good deed. What I mean is…sometimes, even when people look down on you, take advantage of you, bully you, treat you like dirt, don’t be angry. On the other hand, never expect a ‘pay back’ from others when you help them. Read this story and you will understand…..Caught in the cold winter, Jack, a beggar, was begging people for money and food, heartlessly they don’t even give enough a dollar. His hunger had him almost killed. He decided to knock for food. Hours passed, none gave him food, until he knocked this particular house, the poorest of all. It was a young sweet lady with the loveliest smile he ever seen. He got embarrassed and asked the lady if she had a glass of milk. The lady invited him to sit while she poured a big glass of milk for him. Deeply in touched, he asked how much milk he would get for 67 cents. “Free”, replied the lady, “Doing something good to help others is my job, I don’t need your money”. He thanked and drank it in a matter of seconds. The lady gave Jack ten dollars before he leave, she told him to take care.Years flew so fast and the lady had an illness that no doctor could cure. When Jack knew this, he rushed to read and discover the cure to the lady’s illness. Successfully, he found it out, he dashed to her house and cured her illness. When Jack’s servant told him about the bill, he wrote some words and signed on it. The lady woke up, but did not remember Jack. She received the bills and she cried, the letter said “ Miss, you do not need to pay this ten million US already, you had paid full from the glass of milk you gave me when I was still a beggar.”
