rocks in the bucket story

A lecturer at a university is giving a pre-exam lecture on time management. On his desk is a bag of sand, a bag of pebbles, some big rocks and bucket. He asks for a volunteer to put all three grades of stone into the bucket, and a keen student duly steps up to carry out the task, starting with the sand, then the pebbles, then the rocks, which do not all fit in the bucket.

"The is an analogy of poor time management," trills the lecturer, "If you'd have put the rocks in first, then the pebbles, then the sand, all three would have fit. This is much like time management, in that by completing your biggest tasks first, you leave room to complete your medium tasks, then your smaller ones. By completing your smallest tasks first you spend so much time on them you leave yourself unable to complete either medium of large tasks satisfactorily. Let me show you.."

And the lecturer re-fills the bucket, big rocks first, then pebbles, then sand, shaking the bucket between each so that everything fits.

"But Sir," says one student, slouched at the back of the theatre, "You've forgotten one thing.."

At which the student approaches the bucket, produces a can of lager, opens it and pours into the bucket. "No matter how busy you are," quips the student with a smile, "There's always time for a quick beer."

The faster you move, the heavier you get. You're heavier when you run than when you're standing still.

The more energy you put into something, the more mass it accumulates. So if you're moving fast, you gain weight. It's only a tiny, temporary weight gain, but if you were traveling close to the speed of light your mass would increase rapidly.

Casino cheat fined S$1,500 for cashing credits of another patron

Casino cheat fined S$1,500 for cashing credits of another patron

SINGAPORE : A casino cheat was fined S$1,500 in court Wednesday morning for cashing out credits that did not belong to her from a game machine.

The incident happened in February at the casino at Resorts World Sentosa.

46—year—old Alice Lau was playing the Russian roulette machine beside another male patron, who left without cashing out the credits.

Lau then took the opportunity to cash out the credits worth $S630.

Shortly after, the man, who forgot about his winnings, informed the casino management which then proceeded to trace Lau and stopped her in the casino.

The money was later returned to the man. — CNA/jy

I really think that it's ridiculous, using law and punishments to teach moral values, it's the man's mistake for not cashing out, should just consider it a luck for lau or rather dishonest of lau. There isnt any need of punishment of this petty thing, like as if in any other circumstances law and punishments could help 'gain' back a misplaced item, just like my hps

An issue with a family member or roommate upsets the harmony in your home on Monday and Tuesday

Schoolwork or chores get in the way of fun over the weekend. Your time isn't your own, unfortunately

MUST HOROSCOPES BE THAT ACCURATE !!??!! LETS SEE NEXT FEW DAYS:

26 May: You may feel a bit of strain today as you try to figure out the best way to get to where you need to be, Cancer. On the one hand, the happy approach calls for you to let loose, be courageous, and strike out with conviction toward the things that mean the most to you. On the other, a sense of duty holds you back. Take the best of both worlds. Come up with your own plan of attack.

You can help build morale by bringing in a snack or going out to eat with co-workers on May 26 (I was thinking to bring!). You could feel moody on May 27. (PTM??)

I remember someone asked me this question: why are people getting more petty? I think the answer lies on this thing you're facing right now. By now, I'm sure most do realize the absurdity of technology. It is an inversely related thing, the more a country is technologically advanced, the lesser the real bonds between humans. Nowadays these bonds are so virtual, so unreal, this is a reason I find myself hard to sustain a conversation more more than 10 rounds. In the future, those who values friendship will be the creme de la creme, a one-of-a-kind, a living treasure. People now could chat so lively in the virtual world, yet speechless in the reality. People getting hooked with games that eventually they loathe to even step out of the house, or even just to get up and shit. Thats why brotherhood to them means nothing, or rather it would perish from the dictionary then. I used to be beleaguered by debts last year, I let petty took charge for this year, and other than the presents for birthdays, I have loads of money left. Technology create comfort, but it erodes empathy. It would soon be almost impossible to put oneself in another's shoe in the future.
