Jing Zhi introduced me to this book: The Man Who Lied To His Laptop

I think it is an very interesting book briefly explaining human psychology by using experiments of human-machines interaction as/to support his hypothesis. Some valuable things I've learnt is firstly, english vocabs:

Calumny: The making of false and defamatory statements in order to damage someone's reputation; slander.

Exacerbated: Make(a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling)worse.

Some nice intro he had is the experiment concerning the evaluation of the performance of a computer. When the evaluation is done on the same computer itself, the evaluation is higher that the one on a piece of paper of another identical computer. This demonstrates the innate politeness we possess, we minded others' feelings.

Next is criticism, I've learnt to always give criticism then praises, just as what we do in letter writing, this is due to the fact that despite praising one for the past 10mins, one statement of criticism will devastate the person. As such, we prefer flattery despite despising it verbally. However, there is a balancing scale of 'kind but clueless' and 'blunt but wise'.

Also about team building, I found out that team building games are waste of time, it only helps to strengthen not to make, because due to our first impressions, during the game, we might dislike that particular person in the team, therefore treating the person similarly before or after the game. An effective team building is the implementation of a common identity, the sense of belonging, like how facebook attracts or the college uniform or the TOSTED~!! haha. Label is important. The labeling is the one that will shape the first impression and to judge the influence of your words. I remember ZhiYu being very proud and tried to fulfill his 'back leader' job as they walk to their school. This is why degrees are important, to established a certain image of you first. However, remember, pursue excellence, success will follow, pants down.

Then again, there is a section about misery loves company, this a valuable lesson, so I will know how to chill a person next time, we should join them, just slightly better, so that they will have a common topic to moan first, and then gets more optimist as we progresses in our conversation. So I still find no harm joining the kids' tone of speech and choices of words, we should blend in with them as one first, then we influence. Oh well, I'll keep my attitude and thinking, they'll keep their ways of governance, we'll see how it progresses, though mostly I should lose out since my style works only in the long run. =)

In a nutshell, it's a great book, interesting book, due to the experiments, since most of the 'lessons' we should have a rough idea beforehand already. Skilfully, the lesson on self-criticism is used by the writer himself, he often states how he failed first then tell us why so such that we might find the book slightly more engaging. Awesomeness!

From http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2011/01/14/lawyer-to-sue-agc-and-heb-over-thaipusam-guidelines I came across one new word: Not having any serious purpose or value: frivolous "rules to stop frivolous lawsuits" or (of a person) Carefree and not serious

Interesting news:
Flying drunk proves fatal for bird flock

Haha even the birds nowadays wants to de-stress =) what harsh world are we living in? =)

Right, took the true fear 2011 updated my side bar =) looks like every year my true fear changed o.O surprisingly I always thought my answer would remain the same always... -_-"

1.4/3, so low? I was expected a low score of at least 2..... I actually managed to talk into them gradually, not just be a 'companion' to play and kill time. Sometimes we must blend in with them to influence them gradually marh. Sigh, guess people lived for a purpose, your passion might not be the most suitable direction to aim. I fully understand what does it mean by 祸从口出, a few intensional habit of remarks could reverberate in other's ears, though it might not be vulgar or rude. I'm just too 'free' for restrictions, and this is a major concern for most adults. Wondered why did I even gave so many feedbacks and suggestions in the first place? Maybe I was being too extra, too KPO, too meddlesome, but at least I had given something back to the society for what I had took. Was repeating ‘用尽一生的爱’ yesterday strangely, and luckily, at least I wont feel too bad, especially due to the chorus:

用尽一生的爱, 不在乎
是否能够天长地久
我无悔, 无怨, 无憾, 无尤
这一生又有何求

Had exhausted myself and presented my whole
No longer bothered by any red marks or bold
Nor if my hand have its chance to par or to fold
For I had no regrets, worries nor hard feelings
What else do I need but the thrill of card gambling
The sun is disappearing, I should get going

wootz a poem done =) anyway, yea, I had given in my best, though people might dislike it, at least I had done my best, and I had nothing to lose. Sometimes, the 'laws' are not to be obeyed closely, or there could not be a gradual change, but temporary controlled situations.

究竟有多少的人能够看透
How many people could see it through

有多少往事不堪回首
All the past mistakes, not to dwell in it

人生一场喜怒哀乐交错
究竟有多少感动可以保留
Of all the feelings we've gone through, how many of them are worth remembering?

这世界分分秒秒来去匆匆
从来不会为谁停留
The world will keep turning, unaffected by your stagnant presence

一生中寻寻觅觅转眼成空
一旦错过不能从头
What ever you are searching, one day might be redundant, and then you would realize you have wasted your time, your effort, your chance to do other things

OH BTW, I LEARNT HOW TO HOOLAHOOP TODAY~!!!! AFTER SO MANY YEARS~!!!

Found this on yahoo:

Should casual eateries ban young children?
Is it fair for some casual eateries to ban children from their premises, citing the preservation of ambience and avoiding rowdy behaviour that disturbs other guests?

some had responded:

LOL... while singapore Govt is trying their best to improve singapore population by promoting young couple to have babies....

whats the point of having baby when i have to always find places for lunch & dinner becos i have a baby that can't go nto eateries that ban babies and child.

Every Good Parent and Every Blessed Parent must stand up for their children.
Every One knows how helpless to nurture a child.
Every One knows that the child is a gift of God.
Every Parent loves their child.
What is fair to a Child?
What is the price of Ambience?

The problem is with the parents and not the children per se. We were all children once and we should allow them the freedoms which we enjoyed.
It is sad to see so many view children so negatively.

My respond:
they can always have solutions like having a toddlers corner or something, then the others kids could be taught by their parents to not talk loudly, anyway they should sense the quiet atmosphere already.

You may feel a bit of a strain today as you try to figure out the best way to get to where you need to be, Cancer. The happy, jovial approach tells you to let loose, be courageous, and strike out with conviction toward the things that mean the most to you. A sense of duty and restriction may be holding you back. Take the best of both worlds and come up with a unique plan of attack.

First I'll go childcare have fun ltr noon, then if he alighting, go airport fetch sin5 at 4pm, finally work at 7pm but reach home at 6pm first =) done =)

You'll realize just what your limits are and use the right tactics to climb the career ladder. You could bicker with your beloved who doesn't agree with you and claims you are superficial so try to meet his or her needs.

Hopefully can have more success in my work ltr on, and yea juz go with the flow, superficial, suits you haha, Im just doing what I feel right.

Right, finally found time to blog again. Right, new years starts peacefully, with wlwx in macd wishing each other happy new year according to our fortunately unsynched clock. Thus, in the end we all stared at Tai for his clock to reach 2011 haha.

Then we walked to sx house to play simple card games aand yepp thats how it is till 4, and i slept till 8 or so.

We went to bedok market after that which I ate wanton mee, ba chor mee, siew mai, qian cheng gao and sesame ball =) haha my reccess spree is back =)

After that we tried the 4 men chinese chess which sx invented exactly 10 years ago haha. It was really fun haha, very entertaining, especially for the first round because in the end johann conquered the other two (he gained control of their land and troops) and realized he had now full troops (he gained the 2 carriage he lost). however, that's also when eveyone realized I was untouched haha! not even a single hostile unit was in my area and none of my attacking forces died hahaha, but yea sx sacrificed himself to let johann conquer me in the second match haha =)

Finally we went to 'different taste' for light lunch and then I made my way to crocodile wholesale centre where I meet marcus and kk, and right after that we went sentosa for the after hours ticket into universal studios to watch the new year fireworks special. We reached home around midnight with just nice $11.11 left in my ez-link card. Good start!!!

On the second day I went to training plus lion dance training. It's really amazing to learn about how complicated lion dance supposed to be, I heard for events, the whole performance should last around 3h!! though nowadays they dont even last 1!!! It was first time I tried on the lion, haha looks easy, at least better than the drums and cymbal (no constant rhythmic sense for me haha. Then jiaolian told us some of his past experiences, rules of the olden days troupe and how the lion should walk for different 'formations' of the cai xin.

And so half a day passed, I went to marina bay sands at 3 till midnight again.

Today woke up rather late, but realized I had to work at 2 till 5. Sigh haha, and I dined out with johann. tomorrow sch starts for them, all the best for every student affected in singapore!!!

Right, now gtg sleep early for I have to go childcare in the morning 9-12, followed by work again at 2-5... busy busy... =) ciao =)

Am I naggy? haha too bad, hereditary trait... or maybe I'm just too 'old' haha. Somehow I like to pass knowledge on to other people, or rather, points of views, just as what I had always been praying in SML temple. Haha, and expectedly people will get bored, but actually other than that I got nothing to talk about, I'm not a gamer, and my music likings are.... old... so the only thing I can do is to pass whatever I have left. Another trait is I tend to 'pray' very long, despite being a free thinker, since somehow, hopefully, in one way or another, the prayers can accumulate for the beneficiary. My prayers usually include family as a whole, my parents, friends as whole, wlwx, rv, cheuck n weide, indo friends, my targets and my actions, finally my personality, end of with 'may every soul have peace and happiness'. Ofcoz long larh! Somehow I find joy talking to James Lek haha. Anyway, JPiC Forum is up again, maybe I can continue some literature =) and yea, 'Just call me nobody', a movie, is coming out in 30jan, might watch it probably on countdown or new year =) Got two of my favourite celebs inside, Jacky Wu and Mark Lee =) Ofcoz the kid is damn cute too haha. Because the world is imperfect, it makes it perfect, =) though still I would complain about things =) to exercise my brain and mouth =)

Example, teachers, I think a good teacher is one who have the respect of students yet be as one with students, one that will guide them instead of enforce, inspire and be a good role model at least in front of them =)

Parents, nowdays young parents very cmi, firstly a lot of them mistook lust as love, so the definition of marriage differ, and many are career minded, so the love they give to the kids are insufficient, secondly they frequently treat them as a showcase, comparing in terms of anything and eveything, thirdly, giving birth is to justify motherhood for woman so if anything wrong can always turn to orphanages, men are now even more lecherous.

I seen cases where their father are under affairs, I feel sad for them, especially when they are now above 15, as old as uni graduates. Yes, though due to kids growing up, dads have nothing to do, no kids to shower their fatherly love, cold and distant towards the children, but think of the wife, suddenly after such long cherishable marriage why the need of another play thing? The children though can understand, but it is still a blow to them, and definitely not a good role model for them. Some cases they neglect their child to the extent they starved to death, thats inhumane! On the other scale, there are some whom I know under special needs, they have loving parents that will brace every obstacles in their paths to continue raising the kid, teaching the kids, loving the kids, these parents are mighty! Sigh, well, thats the complain I want.

In a way, maybe some people are just destined to do so, for the benefit of the balance in the world, including love and hate, care and neglect, dedicated and dutiful. But still, having a well off simple life, I'm loving it! Thus so far, all these years, I always think that having a simple life is fine, is the happiest of all, sufficient for living, have slight storage for emergencies. Some people live a simple life with 2k, yet some have the same simple life with 9k, despite living in the same city, is life amusing? Yes, dads always say prepare for the unexpected, but why cant think of the solution when it happen, or rather why so sure misfortune will occur? And what is the consequences of a rich life, personality, thoughts, views will change, standard of living will change, moral will change.... sigh

Monday, December 20, 2010

Sigh, not saying bad about someone, but sometimes things seriously will screw up.

Firstly in terms of organizing, follow ups is a must even if we skip the 'pay money first' procedure. Updates to committee including facebook group in charge is a should. Food to but to be confirmed asap and specific not by saying 'anything' or 'anyhow'. If do not know how facebook group function should ask for assistance and try to learnt, not reject facebook due to persnal reasons and assume things.

For responsibility, one should be man of your word until life and death situation, must deliver what we promised or agree. Should be able to excuse yourself from less prioritized matters such as principal briefing on craps and must have full support from parents to avoid last minute 'grounding'.

I conclude, this 2 days is two of my most disappointing days even if it's smooth. Since nothing is flawless, though at the spot is a nice peaceful and beautiful activity, I'll just have to clean up the mess, including find a way to pay back some of the bbq attendees as they had paid double for the massive amount of food ordered without even 50% attendance. I really wondered, why did I even bother int he first place? for once I'm gonna say, FML... at least for being such 'KPO'... oh well, it's a outside-texbook lifelong study of humans =)
